Having already made a chocolate monkey birthday cake for our family gathering we decided to cheat with this on.
The cupcakes are just a basic sponge mix with green food colouring added. Then iced with shop bought buttercream (again with green food colouring). The caterpillar legs are matchmaker chocolates
The caterpillars head was a packet red velvet cake cake mix. Iced with red fondant and then devoration added with yellow & green fondant. The antennae are chocolate flakes.
Using cupcakes definitely made the little friends birthday much easier as there was no cake cutting to worry about when doing the goodie bags. Simply put a cupcake in each one.
